Thomastown Community Kindergarten is a charity-based organisation (Charity Number 20048129) and we are providing a quality, affordable Early Childhood Care and Education setting in the local community. It is classified as a part-time/ sessional service under the Child Care Act 1991 (Early Years Services) Regulations 2016.

We cater for children aged 2.5 years until they move to primary school at 5 or 6 years of age.

We are not qualified Steiner educators but like to take aspects of the Steiner Waldorf approach along with our own experiences, learning’s and qualifications when planning meaningful and developmentally appropriate activities and learning goals for your child. We work to develop an education which is a living, loving process, recognising that as a child changes and grows, so does their readiness and ability to take up certain tasks.  All teachers have a different teaching style but when planning our curriculum, we try every day to challenge, provoke, excite, stimulate, teach, and investigate with the children.

Thomastown Kindergarten places your child at the centre of our practice.  We understand that each child is unique; they develop at their own pace and we believe this should be done in a relaxed and unhurried environment.

We use Aistear (Early Childhood Curriculum Framework) and Síolta (The National Quality Framework for Early Childhood Education)  to develop the quality of our curriculum to better support children’s learning and development.

Play is the most important activity during  a child’s time with us, during this time we can observe your child and learn their strengths, interest and needs with priority in nurturing their imaginative play and less on the academic teaching. Out door play is a huge part of our day.

We do not offer full day care but two sessions within the day, a morning session and afternoon session. We have a working waitlist please get in touch for more information.
